When is the last time you tossed and turned all night, just not able to truly fall asleep?
Hopefully it doesn't happen too often. But, if it does, it could be due to all the gadgets that are in your bedroom, from your clock radio and cordless telephone to your smartphone and its charger.
Why would this be affecting your sleep?
Your body is made up of 70% high-mineral content water, which can be very conductive. Plus, the cells that make up some of your most important organs (liver, heart, brain) all communicate via electrical pulses. Unfortunately, these electrical pulses can be interrupted and influenced by external sources like the gadgets mentioned above.
Think of the connection as what happens with a tuning fork that's not vibrating. If it's put next to one that IS vibrating, it takes on that vibration and starts to vibrate itself.
This interruption of your body's communication system wreaks havoc and can cause all sorts of health problems.
So, how can you "unplug" and get away from these EMFs (electromagnetic fields)?
Ron and Lisa Beres return to Naturally Savvy to share tips on eliminating the danger of EMFs.
First and foremost, it's essential to make your bedroom an EMF-free zone. You're bombarded by these EMFs all throughout the day, so you need your bedroom to become a sleep sanctuary that gives you that much-needed break.
EMFs can leave you feeling fatigued, but they can also cause you to feel WIRED. Here's how you can change that.
W: Eliminate and remove radio frequencies that can come from WiFi devices such as cordless phones and smartphones. WiFi is invisible, silent, odorless, tasteless, and even potentially deadly. You don't see it, so it's easy to ignore. For sure don't leave your smartphone on or near your nightstand. If you need it for an alarm, put it on airplane mode. Landlines have become nearly obsolete, but they are still available and they are so much safer.
I: Many people turn to Internet hubs and routers so they can have Internet access all throughout the home. Just make sure these are turned off at night, even if they're not located in your actual bedroom. If they are in an adjacent room or even underneath your bedroom on a lower level, you are still in the radio frequency "hot zone."
R: Radio alarm clocks that are wired can give off dangerous EMFs. Replace these with a battery-powered alarm clock.
E: The electric wiring in your walls and lamps actually holds on to voltage, which gives off a magnetic field that could be disrupting your sleep. Unplug any lamps in your bedroom while you sleep, or pick up a special switch at your local hardware store that essentially has the same effect as unplugging.
D: Distance is key when it comes to magnetic fields. Radio frequency drops off at 6-10 feet, so keep that in mind when placing and using devices that carry an electric field (clock radios, phones, microwaves, even refrigerator motors).
Listen in as Ron and Lisa share more about the dangers of EMFs and how you can work to reduce your exposure, at least at night when you're sleeping and your body is healing itself.
