It's about that time of year when many people start thinking about New Year's resolutions.
And, if you're like nearly 80 percent of the population, you'll be excited for the first two or three weeks, but then fall off the wagon.
In this segment, co-hosts of Naturally Savvy, Andrea Donsky and Lisa Davis, share some of their own resolutions, as well as tips for keeping your promises to "do better" long past those first few weeks.
Andrea's resolution this year is to exercise more. Now, she's not necessarily a hardcore gym person, but loves things like yoga, stretching and meditation. How will she stay on track? First and foremost, she vows to schedule it in and just make time for it.
As far as exercise goes, Lisa is a huge Pilates fan. Her advice for sticking with an exercise routine? Find something fun; it makes following through much easier. Lisa is also a big advocate of rewarding yourself for small victories, with something like a new exercise outfit. And, don't wait until you're a certain size to get that new outfit... you deserve it even if you're not to your goal just quite yet!
Any little thing like that can help you achieve whatever your goals are; but you must also actively engage yourself with specific tasks.
Naturally Savvy Challenges are a great way to do just that. In order for change to happen and really stick, you have to do the work... whether that's physical, mental or emotional work. You have to learn what changes you need to make and actively work towards implementing those changes.
The Naturally Savvy Challenges work by taking you through three steps, all of which guide you to recognizing what you're doing wrong and how to make it right. They are very motivating, too, because you can get coupons and free samples to help you along the way and which act as an incentive for you to see the challenge through to the end.
Oh, and they're free!
There are many to choose from, including any one of the Scary Seven (e.g. high fructose corn syrup, trans fats, MSG, artificial sweeteners, preservatives), as well as an omega-3 challenge and a gluten-free challenge.
Finally, Lisa's goal is to cook more in the coming year, using healthy ingredients that her whole family will love too.
When making your own New Year's Resolutions, find what you love and what makes you feel good. If you can do that, making it a habit will be a lot easier.
