Mark Mathis: Hey everyone. This is the One Minute Marketer. I'm Mark Mathis, Creative Director at Amperage Marketing and Fundraising. And I was just thinking that advertising today is different, duh, but most have not figured out all the subtleties yet. It seems that many advertisers just want to tell people things in commercials and videos and magically have them immediately react and buy something, give them money, sign up, or schedule an appointment, or just do something.

Geico has discovered that advertising in a digital world is a new medium that requires subtleties of sales, loud and literal messaging, and a lot of entertainment value. See if you recognize this line from a recent Geico ad, French vanilla, Rocky road, chocolate, peanut butter, cookie dough, scoop, there it is. Scoop, there it is. That's from the Geico ad that features Atlanta's tag team, ak DC the Brain Supreme, Glen and Steve Rowland Gibson. Scoop, there, it is sure to be a slang phrase. I think people are going to use in 2021. The clever mix of ice cream names and the song drives the commercial. And according to Dr. John Medina, music, always boosts cognition. Scoop, there it is. And Geico have found a way to break through the clutter and build a brand around fun ads, great characters and music, and a standard branding line that they always use. It's a triple scope of creativity that's pleasing to the eye and very pleasing to the ear.

So, how's it doing? Well for starters, the commercial has more than 14 million views on YouTube. Think about that, 14 million people watched a commercial on YouTube. Who said, people want to skip the ads? Scoop, there it is. That is the One Minute Marketer for this week. My special thanks to Audio Engineer, Bill Klaproth.
