Chitra Dinakar, MD, joined Children's Mercy Hospital in June 1999 after completing her fellowship in Allergy, Asthma and Immunology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Her medical degree and pediatric residency training were obtained at Jawaharlal Institute of Post-graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER),one of the premier medical schools in India. She is currently Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Missouri-Kansas City, and Faculty, Section of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology at Children's Mercy Hospital and Clinics.
Dr. Dinakar has been involved in more than 50 investigator-initiated, NIH-sponsored, and industry-sponsored clinical trials, and has almost 40 peer-reviewed publications to her credit. She has received awards for her research in exhaled nitric oxide and asthma. She serves on the editorial board of Missouri Medicine and three allergy journals (Annals of Allergy and Allergy; Allergy Watch; Asthma Proceedings), and is an invited reviewer for leading allergy (Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology) and pediatric journals (Journal of Pediatrics).
