These have been unprecedented times for medical care really across the board. But for pregnant women, this was an especially difficult time to navigate.

Dr. Wendy Hasson joins Melanie this episode to talk about pregnancy during COVID-19, the safety of vaccines, and how they affect the baby and shares her own story of how she got vaccinated & boosted while carrying her second child. At the time of this taping, she was 37 weeks pregnant!

Dr. Hasson is the Medical Director of the PICU at Randall Children's Hospital.

Dr. Wendy Hasson is the Medical Director of the PICU at Randall Children's Hospital. She completed both her undergraduate and medical school education at the University of Maryland. She then went on to complete her pediatrics residency at Johns Hopkins University and her pediatric critical care fellowship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. 

Dr. Hasson is passionate about patient safety and quality improvement.  She contributes to the optimization of emergency responses at Randall Children’s Hospital by serving on the Pediatric Code Blue Committee.  She has also partnered with Solutions for Patient Safety to implement guidelines to prevent hospital-acquired blood clots.  Her interest in coagulation has resulted in several publications regarding heparin and heparin alternatives. 

Outside of medicine, Dr. Hasson enjoys road biking, Orangetheory, watching bad reality TV, and, above all, spending time with her husband and son.
