If you're buying organic foods for your kids because you think they're more nutritious, you might want to think again. Dr Janet Silverstein, MD and Dr. Joel Forman,MD, have weighed in on the issue for the first time, with the backing of the AAP, and they say that when it comes to nutritional value, organics are virtually indistinguishable from conventionally produced foods.
Parents should recognize the importance of providing kids with lots of fruits and vegetables whether it comes from organic or conventional farms.

Dr. Forman has served as co-chair of the Academic Pediatric Association's Pediatric Environmental Health Special Interest Group and recently completed 6 years on the executive committee of the American Academy of Pediatrics Council on Environmental Health. He co-authored the recent AAP Clinical report on Organic food published in November 2012.
