If you have never taken a Zumba class, you don't know what you're missing.
The classes have been lauded and praised as a great workout that is also fun and makes you break a rockin' sweat.
But, this type of workout has recently dropped off the Worldwide Fitness Trends list... and there might be a couple of reasons why.
Before you try it at home or the gym, learn the five things your Zumba instructor neglected to tell you.
For instance, know that all Zumba classes are not created equal. It's important to shop around for a class that works for you. Also, your Zumba instructor may only be trained in Zumba, and if so, he or she may not have a good hold on how to properly balance a workout. It's important to cross-train and mix up your workouts so that you don't develop a repetitive stress injury.
Grace Desimone and Melanie Cole, MS, discuss Zumba... the good, the bad and the reality of this high-intensity dancing workout.
