The Truth About Weight Loss Camp

Weight loss camps are an interesting concept— being removed from daily life, eating foods that support weight loss and working off calories. The idea is that the staff are in your corner, cheerleading you along to your weight goals.

So many people have negativity surrounding their weight, making it difficult to heal. A positive attitude and emotional well-being shouldn’t be discounted in making changes.

The focus of camp is leaving smaller. Counselors push campers to eat less and move more, keeping them on track to get the work done. Campers aren’t necessarily equipped to deal with new habits when returning to the real world. Emotional wounds that lead to counterproductive behavior aren't considered.

Listen as Taylor Kay Phillips joins Dr. Pamela Peeke to share her weight loss camp experience.
