Preparing the Family for Life Without You

Your hope is to be there for your family as they grow and change. But, sometimes life has other plans.

Health conditions may mean you have to think about how your family will proceed without you. Each day could be your last day. Focus on what really matters to you. Live in the now and stay present.

Listen as Mary Bergstrom joins Dr. Pamela Peeke to share her very personal story and preparation for the future.

Mary BergstromMary Bergstrom is as lucky as they come.

She’s had a lot of cool professional experiences like  starting her own youth insights business in China, speaking at TEDx, and writing her book All Eyes East: Lessons from the Front Lines of Marketing to China’s Youth.

She has benefited from unique experiences like climbing to the top of Mt. Kenya, sleeping outside in the sand of the Sahara desert, and giving a wedding speech in Mandarin Chinese. (Still, none of her experiences make her as cool as her two adopted kids).

Mary was diagnosed with spontaneous coronary artery dissection, a condition that has resulted in eight heart attacks and one near death experience. She wrote about it in her New York Times Modern Love article “Preparing My Family for Life Without Me.”

Mary is currently living in Brooklyn with her partner, two children, and dog. She is working on a memoir.
