The Anatomy of Anxiety: Understanding and Overcoming the Body's Fear Response

We’ve long thought of anxiety as a “neck up” problem—a problem of brain chemistry and psychology. But now, in The Anatomy of Anxiety acclaimed psychiatrist, Dr. Ellen Vora offers nothing less than a paradigm shift in the way we understand anxiety and mental health.

Dr. Vora suggests that the symptoms of anxiety are frequently the result of physical imbalance—that is, anxiety is a whole-body condition, not simply a brain condition. More than 40 million Americans are suffering from anxiety in any given year (a number that has only increased as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic), add to that the woeful lack of accessibility and affordability of mental health, anxiety is everywhere.

We'll hear about false anxiety vs true anxiety, managing the feelings that come up during meditation and even talk about wrapping our heads around death.
