Dr. Tim Pychyl is a recently retired university faculty member. Since the 1990s, Tim spent his research career studying why we can become our own worst enemy with procrastination. Among the many interesting things he learned is that although time management is necessary, it isn’t sufficient to ensure timely goal pursuit. Procrastination is not a time management problem, it’s an emotion-regulation problem. In addition to scholarly publications of his research, Tim wrote the book Solving the Procrastination Puzzle: A Concise Guide to Strategies for Change to distill key ideas from the psychological science into strategies that we all might use to reduce needless, self-defeating delay in our lives.
