Getting To Know Our Providers - Tony Wasielewski
Tony Wasielewski, FNP-C: Hi, my name is Tony Wasielewski. I am a Family Nurse Practitioner. I work for Memorial Hospital, at the Memorial Medical Clinic Nauvoo. My older sisters both became RNs, and my dad always pushed us to go on to college. And so living in St. Louis, you know, there's lots of hospitals in the area, lots of good schools in the area. So once I graduated high school, it worked out pretty easy for me to apply for college.
And then I ended up becoming an RN with my BSN, through Missouri Baptist College, in St. Louis. And then I went on to do the Family Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Missouri, St. Louis location. Fortunately, it was really easy for me to put in a lot of my clinical time with all of the big hospitals in the area.
So I spent lots of hours at Christian Northeast and St. Luke's. And then I worked as an RN in critical care, for St. Joseph Hospital West and St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles.
Well, I always try to make sure I treat the last person of the day, like they're the first person of the day I'm seeing. Make sure you give them a lot of time. Because it's, it's always when you get ready to leave the room that they tell you the most important thing they've came there for. And so I, I like to treat the whole person, not just their specific complaints. Now if it's just common illnesses, of course we stay focused. But with the human body, fortunately, if you fix one problem somewhere, usually other problems get better too. So a holistic approach is important.
I've been married to my wife, Barbara. Our 20th year anniversary will be this October, and I have three children and my niece lives with us also. Paige Bri, Faith and Brooke. I am an outdoors guy, so, you know, hunting, fishing, things like that interest me. Fortunately I live in an area, where there's lots of outdoors activities.
Well, I grew up in Wentzville and when I, when I was young growing up there, it was a rural area, but St. Charles County and that whole Wentzville area has really exploded in population. It used to be everybody lived in Wentzville and drove to St. Louis to work so you could live out in the country, have small farms and things like that, and work out of the city like my dad did.
But as I got older, with the population increase, it's not a rural area no more. So we wanted to live in more of a rural area so I could expose my kids to more of the farm type life, until they want to make their own decision and live where they want to. And so that's what brought me out here. I like the smaller communities where you tend to know people more personally.
I like working for Memorial Hospital, because they are really invested in the community. They are always pushing us to try to get in touch with the community and, and know our community well, so that way we can serve the population well.
