Monsanto After Mom Bloggers PLUS: Water Scares Across the Nation

Over 400,000 without Water in Toledo, OH

Can you imagine being completely without running water for two or three days?

That's exactly what happened recently in Toledo, OH, when the city water supply was completely shut down from August 2-4.

What was the reason?

Blooming algae in Lake Erie, which contained a dangerous liver toxin, was the culprit.

The problem was a result of a combination of fertilizer run-off (containing phosphorus and nitrogen) getting into the water supply, malfunctioning underground septic tanks and livestock pens (factory farms) which also produce mass amounts of nitrogen and phosphorus.

This phenomenon is happening all over the U.S., but specifically in areas of the Gulf of Mexico. Fish and wildlife are dying at rapid rates due to the toxicity of the water.

A wake-up call is needed to change the way we're treating the Earth, or we're all going to be in hot (toxic) water very soon.


Monsanto Reaching Out to Mom Bloggers

Monsanto has a new approach to getting the public on its side. The company has been directly reaching out to mom bloggers to do a form of "lobbying" and to bring support to the company.

How is Monsanto getting these mom bloggers on board?

One tactic the company has used is bringing mom farmers into the mix to improve its image.

But here's the thing; Monsanto isn't a farming company; it's a chemical company.

The company has also paid bloggers to get a more positive message out. However, some of these paid bloggers have since admitted that they didn't truly know what they were supporting or pushing on behalf of the company.


Breastfeeding Moms: Lanolin Laced with Dangerous Pesticides

Many women, when breastfeeding, use lanolin cream to ease sore nipples.

But recent evidence suggests using lanolin is not the best idea.

Lanolin is extracted from the wool (and skin) of sheep. But many farmers use pesticides to keep bugs out of the sheep's wool, and those chemicals also seep into the lanolin.

When you're putting lanolin on your nipples during breastfeeding, you're passing these pesticides directly to your baby.

Also, many of these sheep are being fed with GMO-infiltrated feed, which brings a whole other set of potential health dangers.

Fortunately, there are alternatives to lanolin out there.
