The Benefits of Walking

If you're someone who has planned to get back into shape but the thought of running, biking or swimming makes you think twice about your healthy decision, you're not alone.

If you've never been truly "active" (or it's been a long time since your last gym visit), jumping right into to an unfamiliar workout routine can do more damage than good.

Have you ever considered walking?

According to the American Heart Association, research has shown that the benefits of walking and moderate physical activity for just 30 minutes a day can reduce your risk of coronary heart disease, improve your blood pressure and blood sugar levels, help maintain your body weight, enhance your mental well-being and lower your risk of obesity. Walking can also reduce the damage from prolonged sitting.

Dr. Holly shares the importance of walking, as well as how it can help you maintain a healthy lifestyle.
