Acid vs. Alkaline: Why Having a Correct pH Balance Is SO Important

Having a balanced pH is a top priority for your health. The pH stands for power (or potential) of hydrogen, a measurement of hydrogen ion concentration in your body.

Keeping your hydrogen regulated with acidity and alkalinity can help keep a healthy balance within your body.

The pH scale ranges from one to 14, with a seven as a neutral. If your pH is below a seven, you have more acidity in your body. This can cause kidney and lung complications, osteoporosis, muscle loss, high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes.

If you have a pH higher than seven, you have too much alkaline, which can cause your body to stop metabolizing essential nutrients, dehydration, and result in your blood not carrying enough oxygen. Keeping a healthy pH balance can be extremely difficult, but it can be done through healthy eating and lifestyle habits.

What are some foods that are high in alkaline and help boost your pH?
  • Carrots
  • Green tea
  • Kale
  • Cabbage
  • Lemon
  • Onion
What are some foods that are highly acidic and lower your pH?
  • Meat: beef, pork, chicken, turkey
  • Coffee
  • Soda
  • Alcohol

Karen and John John and Karen Podlasek have had numerous individual health challenges and struggles over the years. Convinced there needed to be more than just conventional Western medical options, they also sought holistic health avenues like yoga, chiropractors, meditation and eliminating gluten.

Having learned food can play a role in one's health, they began seeing benefits from the Alkaline diet, and weren't satisfied with the pH testing options on the market. So they researched and created a version of pH test strips they'd want to use themselves.

Happy with the results, they also started a small pH Balanced Life Facebook community around sharing information on healthy lifestyles, and the importance of reducing acid and increasing alkaline in people's diets.
