Breast Thermography: Noninvasive Screening for Breast Cancer

According to the American Cancer Society, in 2015 approximately 231,840 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed. Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in women.

Typically, women are encouraged to have annual mammograms in order to detect the early warning signs of breast cancer.

Would you ever consider using breast thermography?

Breast thermography produces an image that shows the pattern of heat and blood flow on or near the surface of your body. Some doctors may use thermography as an alternative screening method for breast cancer, since it doesn't expose you to radiation or breast compression.

But, is it as accurate as a mammogram?

Listen in as Holly Lucille, ND, RN, discusses breast thermography and whether or not you should use this screening method over a mammogram.
