What Is Lyme Disease?

What is Lyme disease and how do you treat it?
Lyme disease is a bacterial infection transmitted by ticks.

The ticks most commonly infected with B. burgdorferi usually feed and mate on deer during part of their life cycle.

Although people may think of Lyme as an East Coast disease, it is found throughout the United States, as well as in more than 60 other countries.

In fact, Lyme disease has been found on every continent except Antarctica.
