Dr. Bernstein: What I really like about the Shriners Hospitals and working in this Portland hospital is our ability to take care of children who have complex orthopedic problems regardless of their ability to pay. And we provide all of the medical care in one setting. Hi, I'm Dr. Bernstein. I'm a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon and I'm the Chief of Staff of Shriners Hospitals for Children in Portland. I wanted to work for Shriners Hospital because I had started out in the Shriners Hospital system at the beginning of my career about twenty-five years ago. I started working at Shriners Hospital Los Angeles and loved the care that we provided for children, and because of that, I always wanted to come back to the Shriners system as a Chief of Staff. One fun fact about myself is I'm trying to teach myself to play the banjo. What I really love about Shriners Hospitals is their ability to provide comprehensive care for children who have orthopedic conditions, and to do it all in one place. We have physical therapy, occupational therapy, prosthetics and orthotics, we have nutrition, social work; everything that you could need is provided in our hospital.
