Kristen Bowser, BS, MA, APR | Ashley Junkunc

Kristen has worked at Dayton Children's for 14 years in the marketing communications department. She is responsible for all aspects of corporate internal communications aimed at building Dayton Children’s internal brand and employee engagement. She oversees all internal communication forums including organization huddles for leadership, the employee intranet, employee town hall sessions and the hospital’s employee magazine. Kristen leads all efforts to ensure coordinated and cascaded communication to drive organizational alignment, working directly with the CEO, the chief strategy officer and chief experience officer. She has a bachelor's from Bowling Green State University, a Master’s from the University of Dayton and received her accreditation in public relations in 2010. Kristen has five kids, has completed 17 full marathons (one dressed as Snow White!) and 100+ half marathons. 


Ashley is the marketing communications coordinator at Dayton Children's Hospital. She started as an intern in 2021 and has grown within the organization. After completing her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Dayton, she joined the hospital full-time.
Ashley manages the day-to-day hospital news for 4,500 employees, collaborating with managers and directors on stories, projects, and programs. Her focus is on elevating the perception of quality of care and ensuring staff believe Dayton Children's is a great place to work. She has successfully led the hospital's platform hosted by FirstUp, achieving 91% registration and 30% download rate for the app, surpassing industry benchmarks.
Working at a pediatric hospital is particularly meaningful to Ashley as she survived childhood cancer during her junior year of high school. She lives with her boyfriend Zach and their shepherd mix dog, Delta.
