Passionate about leadership and making a difference, Dr. Underwood completed a Master of Science in Health Care Delivery from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. He is also a Certified Physician Executive from the American Association for Physician Leadership. He has served in several medical leadership roles, and currently serves as Chief Medical Officer at San Juan Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Underwood will soon be publishing a book with Leadership Compass for Healthcare Professionals as a working title. He loves traveling with his wife, Gina, and enjoys Chicago Cubs baseball.
Robert Underwood, MD, HCDS, CPE
Dr. Underwood attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York where he received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management. He served on active duty in the U.S. Army from 1987 to 1991. After that, he served in the South Carolina Army National Guard until 2004. He attended the University Of South Carolina School Of Medicine in Columbia, where he achieved his Doctor of Medicine. Dr. Underwood completed an Emergency Medicine residency at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
