Lisa Dreer discusses everything you need to know about the Total Rewards team.
Total Rewards Team, What the Team Does, and More About Total Rewards in General
Lisa Dreer: Hi, my name is Lisa Dreer, and I'm the Director of Total Rewards at San Juan Regional Medical Center. I'm here today to give you an overview of what Total Rewards means, as well as provide an update on our 2024 Open Enrollment and Benefits Fair.
Total Rewards is a combination of benefits, compensation and rewards that our caregivers receive from our organization, in addition to wages and bonuses, total rewards also include recognition, workplace flexibility, advancement and career opportunities, short-term disability, retirement match, medical insurance, also dental and vision, of course, compensation, both hourly and salary, well being, EAP, maternity leave, financial education, your birthday off and other regular paid time off, jury duty pay, et cetera. While there are many more aspects of Total Rewards, these are some key examples of what is included in the Total Rewards package at SJRMC. Total Rewards also refers to the function within Human Resources that handles wellness, engagement, recognition, et cetera.
While our paycheck is important, it doesn't convey the entire picture. Total rewards are a combination of monetary and non-monetary rewards. Compensation are salaries, benefits, perks, incentives, guidelines, processes and programs that the organization offers to its employees in exchange for time, labor and skills. Our benefit package represents 30-40% of our salary. So for example, if you make $50,000 per year, your benefit package adds approximately $17,500 more in benefits, so your total reward or total compensation is $67,500. It's easy to undervalue our entire total rewards package if you don't look at the bigger picture of everything available in the total rewards package that SJRMC offers to us in addition to our salaries.
And speaking of benefits, every year we have the opportunity to re=evaluate many of the benefits the organization provides on our behalf, and that time is right around the corner. SJRMC will be holding Benefits Open Enrollment this year from October 30th through November 17th. Please be sure to review all the materials, especially the Benefits Guide, to familiarize yourself with the 2024 offerings. To obtain the Premium Discount for 2024, your labs, BMI and course requirement is due by September 30th. Our well being program is also part of our Total Rewards offerings, and we'd like as many people to take advantage of those benefits as possible.
In order to learn more about what Total Rewards the organization offers you, please plan to attend one of the upcoming five Open Enrollment Informational Sessions, where me and my team will cover the changes for 2024 as well as cover in detail the benefits you have available to you here at SJRMC that you may not be taking advantage of.
I also want to encourage you to attend the benefits fair we have scheduled for November 8th and 9th in the Healing Garden. Our benefits vendors as well as internal departments will be represented to engage with you and share information with you. We will have cooking demos, entertainment, free food, chili, cornbread and pumpkin bread cookoffs, and lots of prizes. You don't want to miss it. More information about Open Enrollment and the Benefits Fair will be coming soon.
Thank you for listening, and I hope you now have a better understanding of what the term Total Rewards means. See you at the Benefits Fair on November 8th and 9th.
