Unlocking Your Potential: The 2026 Wellness Program
Sandra Grunwaldt: Hello, everyone. I am Sandy Grunwaldt, your Wellbeing and Engagement Manager, and we have a special guest joining us today.
Marissa Clausing: Hi, everyone. I'm Marissa Clausing, a senior account manager with Wellworks. Wellworks has partnered with San Juan Regional Medical Center for the past five years, so it's great to be here with you today, Sandy.
Sandra Grunwaldt: Thank you, Marissa. All of us at San Juan Regional are extremely fortunate to work for an organization that values our health and wellness. And I am honored to share some important details with you about our 2026 Wellness Program, along with some valuable recovery and wellness tips.
Before we dive in, i'd like to share a question for you to think about. As you go about your busy day, supporting patients, other caregivers, your family and our community. That question is, "How do you expect to effectively serve other's and live your best life if you don't take care of yourself?"
Marissa Clausing: That's a great question. San Juan Regional Medical Center's 2026 Wellness Program is an opportunity to take care of yourself and earn a generous $60 per month medical premium incentive in 2027. So, that equals $720 annually. Current caregivers enrolled in benefits can earn this incentive by completing two simple steps in any order by September 30th. Step one is to complete your lab work, and step two is to complete an eligible wellness activity. All participation is tracked in your Wellworks portal.
Sandra Grunwaldt: Credit for step one is given to all caregivers who complete their free labs by September 30th. The lab form can be found in several areas, including under our wellness tab on the intranet page, in your wellness portal, or at the front desk of the Center For Workforce Excellence. Your complementary labs are offered from March 1st through September 30th, a pretty generous timeframe. This year, there's no split based on your last name. Everyone is welcome at any time before September 30th to take advantage of our free labs.
Marissa Clausing: And I have a few helpful and important reminders for getting your free lab work done efficiently and accurately. First, you must present your San Juan Regional Medical Center badge for free testing. Lab work is based on a first come first serve basis, and wait times are based on patient volumes. Twelve hours of fasting is preferred except for water. Labs may also be collected in departments or clinic. Results are available through San Juan Regional Medical Center's patient portal one week after lab draw at sanjuanregional.com/patientportal. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your lab results, please contact your provider. And if you do not currently have a primary care provider, visit www.sanjuanregional.com/find-a-doc, D-O-C.
Sandra Grunwaldt: Credit for your step two is given when you complete an eligible wellness activity. What's a wellness eligible activity you wonder? They include a wide range of activities that you can pick from that are most beneficial and valuable to you. They include completing any of the four Wellworks challenges, and you also have a chance to win prizes with those challenges.
Completing a webinar, video, or e-learning series in Wellworks on any number of topics that appeal to you, whether it's financial wellness, sleep, exercise or nutrition. The four Wellworks challenges include the March Cooking Challenge, May's Better Sleep Challenge. June's What Matters To You Challenge and, very popular, August Abs challenge.
Marissa Clausing: Yes, those are all of the Wellworks options to complete step two. There are also some internal San Juan Regional Medical Center activities that will count this year as well. So, some of those eligible wellness activities include attending a San Juan Regional Medical Center Lunch and Learn, participating in the San Juan Medical Foundation Walkathon, September Workout Wednesdays, and attending a Lighten Up Weight Management session. So, more details about how to participate in these wellness activities are on the San Juan Regional Medical Center intranet and in your Wellworks Wellness portal.
Credit for completing steps one and two will reflect in your Wellworks portal. And to access your Wellworks portal, see your Intranet's Wellness tab and click on Wellworks portal. You're also welcome to download the Wellworks mobile app to conveniently access your wellness program information, track your progress, connect with your wellness team, and stay on top of your goals.
Sandra Grunwaldt: Thank you, Marissa. Lots of opportunities this year to achieve both steps and your generous premium incentive for 2027. Before we wrap up, we'd like to share some key wellness tips to consider. A few of these tips include try going to bed 15 minutes early in an effort to give yourself time to wind down and aim for a minimum of seven to eight hours of quality sleep most nights.
Another tip to consider, especially because you live in the dry high desert, is to make sure you're drinking enough water during the day so your urine is the color of straw, which helps indicate that you are well hydrated, resulting in more energy and less temptation to reach for food.
And one final valuable tip is to incorporate 90-second recharges or mini breaks every 90 minutes during your workday. This can help you maintain your focus, your energy, improve your engagement and your mood. A 90-second recharger could be something as simple as a stretch, some deep breathing, getting some fresh air, or doing some jumping jacks.
Marissa Clausing: Those are all great tips. Sandy, I'd also like to emphasize the importance of eating an average of at least five to seven servings of fruits and vegetables each day and incorporating at least 30 minutes of physical activity on most days of the week.
Sandra Grunwaldt: More great tips. Thank you so much, Marissa, and all caregivers for joining us today. We are here to support you on your wellness program completion and successes. But, ultimately, and more importantly, to support your ability to live your healthiest and best life. Thank you.
