What's Happening in Farmington This Summer
Kevin O'Donovan: Hello, this is Kevin o' Donovan, Integrated Marketing Specialist with the City of Farmington. Many of you may remember me from the hospital's marketing department, and I'm so happy to share some of the incredible things happening in our community as we celebrate a major milestone.
This year, Farmington is officially 125 years old. Throughout 2026, we are honoring our history while looking forward to a bright future. And this summer's lineup is a perfect reflection of that energy. We're kicking things off with the unofficial start of the season River Fest over Memorial Day weekend from May 22nd through the 24th. It's always such a wonderful time to get down to the river and enjoy the music and food that makes our community special. But don't forget about the River Fest Run on Saturday May 23rd. Participants can choose a 10K, 5K, or two-mile walk. Registration is available at runsignup.com.
If you're looking to cool off, you'd be happy to know that both Bisti Bay and the Aqua Park at Lake Farmington open for the season on May 23rd. Have you been to historic downtown Farmington recently? In early May, new sculptures were installed featuring artists from around the Four Corners region. Take a stroll down Main Street and check out this amazing exhibit. One of the great things about Farmington is our professional musical theater offering. This summer, Four Corners musical theater company has two fantastic productions you won't want to miss. Grease will be at the Sandstone Amphitheater from June 11th through July 12th, and Shrek the Musical will take the stage at the Civic Center from July 30th to August 9th.

Beyond the stage, we are also celebrating Lowrider Culture in the United States now through July 25th at the Farmington Museum. This exhibition features vibrant photographs highlighting the artistic expression, history, and traditional lowriding in the United States. This is organized by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service in collaboration with the National Museum of American History. Of course, the crack of the bat returns with the Connie Mac Road Series from July 23rd to August 1st, a true highlight of every Farmington summer.
If you have kids to keep busy, there is a myriad of things going on from sports and fun at the Sycamore Park Community Center and the Farmington Recreation Center to all the engaging children's activities at the E3 Children's Museum. And there's is something for everyone.
There are so many great things to discover in Farmington this summer as we celebrate our 125th anniversary.
