Kevin O'Donovan: Hello, I'm Kevin o' Donovan, Integrated Marketing Specialist for the City of Farmington. From our main thoroughfares to our quiet neighborhoods, speeding and drag racing have become more than just a nuisance. They become a serious threat to our community's safety. It's easy to feel like you're in a vacuum when you're behind a wheel, but the reality is that many of the accidents and fatalities we've seen in our city recently are the direct result of someone driving too fast.

Every time we push the limit, we're risking the lives of our neighbors, our friends, and our families. We don't want anyone in Farmington to become a statistic. We want you to get home safely every single night. That is why we are launching a new initiative, Not So Fast, Farmington.

To help us keep safety top of mind, the city has invited a new friend to join the team. I'd like to introduce you to Cruise, the Roadrunner, the face of our campaign. You're going to see a lot of Cruise on signs and advertisements and out in the community. He's going to be our eyes and ears on the road reminding us all that while roadrunners are fast, they're also smart. Cruise will be making special appearances around town. So, be on the lookout for events and upcoming video series.

For more information, you can check out our website, farmingtonnm.gov/notsofast. Cruise will be out there heading out, not sofa stickers, car fresheners, and other materials to help keep safety on your radar. But the real work starts with you. We're asking the public to join this movement, grab a campaign sticker or a yard sign, pay attention to our local safety reminders, and most importantly, just be mindful.

Think about the effect your speed has on the people around you. When you slow down, you give yourself a chance to react, and you give other's a chance to stay safe. Let's look out for one another and keep our city moving at a pace we can all live with. Remember, not so fast, Farmington. And thanks for listening, and please drive safe out there. Thank you.
