In addition to Why Therapy Works, he is the author of The Neuroscience of Psychotherapy, The Making of a Therapist, The Neuroscience of Human Relationships, The Healthy Aging Brain, The Social Neuroscience of Education, and Attachment-Based Teaching. Lou has also authored and co-authored articles and book chapters on child abuse, schizophrenia, language, and cognition.

    His current interests are in the areas of the synthesis of neuroscience and evolution with education and leadership. Lou is also an editor at W.W. Norton for two book series focused on the application of interpersonal neurobiology to the fields of mental health and education.
