Quick Tips to Spring Clean Your Health
Host: This is the Summa Health Medical Minute. Today, we're with Dr. Andrew Chema, Family Medicine Physician at Summa Health. Doctor, now that springtime is here, what are some simple ways to spring clean your health?
Dr. Andrew Chema: Freshen up your diet. Choose healthy meals and snacks. Focus on fresh fruits and vegetables. Get outdoors. Adults should aim for 30 minutes of physical activity each day. Clean up your medicine cabinet. Discard any expired or unneeded medications. Get enough sleep. Adults should sleep for at least seven hours each night. And protect yourself from the sun. Use a minimum of SPF 15 sunblock and apply every two hours while outdoors.
Host: And doctor, how should I begin planning my health goals?
Dr. Andrew Chema: Your doctor can help provide education and resources to start you down the right path. Work with your primary care provider to talk about your health goals and make an appointment for a wellness exam to discuss how you'll reach these goals.
