The Hologenome Era

Have you ever said, “I'm so nervous, my stomach is all in a knot.” Or, “Wow, that was gut-wrenching experience”?

You know that your brain can stimulate reactions in other parts of your body. However, science is now revealing that this is not a simple one-way connection.

A rich network of microbial life in your internal organs plays a powerful role in shaping critical metabolic functions and even influencing your moods and behavior.

We have finally reached the era of the hologenome!

In this segment, Dr. Miller, a leading expert on the hologenome and author of the new book, The Microcosm Within: Evolution and Extinction in the Hologenome, reveals a number of microbial surprises.

Dr. Miller also shares six surprising things about you and your microbes and how the foods you eat can alter your microbial communities and even influence complex human behaviors such as anxiety, learning, memory, satiety, and appetite.
