LSVT BIG Explained: How Therapy Helps People with Parkinson's
Selena Facio, OTD, OTR/L
From a very young age, I knew I wanted to pursue a profession where I could help others, and when I discovered Occupational Therapy, I instantly knew it was the perfect fit for me. I was raised in Northeast Oklahoma on a farm that has been in my family for five generations. My small hometown sits on a lake, so my weekends were often spent working on the farm and relaxing on the water.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy from Oklahoma State University in 2022 and went on to complete my Doctorate in Occupational Therapy at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 2025.
Growing up, I frequently visited Arizona and always knew I wanted to live there one day. When the opportunity at Wickenburg arose, it felt like the perfect next step. I’m passionate about using my skills to help others and contribute to making the community a better, healthier place for everyone.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors, gardening, cooking, and trying new foods. These activities not only bring me joy but also reflect the holistic, balanced lifestyle I hope to promote through my work in occupational therapy. I’m excited to begin this new chapter and to be part of a community where I can make a meaningful difference.
