Trying To Get Pregnant? Pick A Partner Who Isn't Sweet Smelling

Written by
Let's say you or a friend of yours is trying to get pregnant - after all it is fun and patriotic (more on that below).

Let me give you some hints on how to make this happen:

1. Exercise with your partner
2. Pick a partner that doesn't watch TV sitting
3. Avoid Frenchmen or those who use aftershave (and men, you'll want to avoid women who have this chemical in their cosmetics or perfume)

Yes, three new research studies came out - that we talked about on YOU The Owner's Manual Radio Show (you do listen live or at least on podcast...live 5-7 pm every Saturday; podcast anytime at RadioMD.com - on each show we cover the most important medical stories of the week, and what they mean for you).

In the first, couples who exercise together regularly report better and more frequent sex. You may not like to see sweat on treadmills, or on public speakers, but you apparently get turned on by it, and want to see it on your honey, even if you don't think so.

Exercise stimulates the production of make-you-happy brain chemicals, and increases your libido and your feelings of arousal. (Even I get aroused watching my Nancy exercise.)

That's right, and if that isn't enough reason to exercise, try these: Working out with your partner demonstrates that you care about his or her physical health - and your own. It lets him know you like to spend time together, and it builds trust and interdependence as you both work to expand your endurance and physical abilities.

And when you and your honey workout together, you're more likely to stick with the exercise routine. And you do not watch TV sitting...that brings up study 2.

In study 2, those couples going for infertility treatment with a male spouse that watched 20 + hours of TV a week sitting had 44% lower sperm counts - enough to cause infertility - and poorer sperm quality - enough to cause no egg penetration.

And in Frenchmen who used pthalates, etc in aftershave and deodorants had lost 1.9 % lower sperm per year, and had 1.3% poorer sperm per year for the last 19 years. So that fertility bust in France is caused by endocrine disrupting chemicals now used in many male personal care products.

As for the patriotic part, we need more kids in the developed world. We need women to produce on average 2.1 offspring to just maintain our population, and our economy. More people means more GDP growth, which means more jobs and more ability to afford Social Security and Medicare commitments.

But the USA in the last two years has fallen to 1.9, and France has progressively seen it's fertiltity rate fall to 1.63 (near Japan's).

So it is patriotic to have children.

So for best fertility (and brain power in offspring), and the best economy, pick a partner who isn't sweet smelling, doesn't watch much TV, and who wants to exercise regularly (and not just in the bed) with you.
