You consider your relationship to be perfect. Your man communicates his love for you all the time.
However, he shies away from the topic of marriage and time begins to pass without any reassurance of tying the knot.
The fear of losing freedom or identity can cause hesitancy, but why are some men just not ready to commit?
It might be that the times have changed and men have different viewpoints than they used to years ago. According to a recent survey conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau, 64 percent of men in the age range of 25-29 had never been married, which is a dramatic increase of just 19 percent in 1970.
Although times have changed, if you are ready for marriage and your partner is not, you do not want to force him into submission. The desire for lifelong commitment should be mutual, of course.
Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Virginia and director of the National Marriage Project, Dr. Brad Wilcox, PhD, discusses why some men aren't ready to commit and the signs that might help determine if marriage is, or should be, in the foreseeable future.
