You probably don't often think about some of the common products you use everyday in your household, from cleaning products and air fresheners to shampoos and other hair care products.
But you might want to start paying closer attention to these everyday household helpers, as many of them contain extremely dangerous chemicals.
For instance, did you know that the popular salon procedure, the Brazilian Blowout, contains 10% formaldehyde? Or that many feminine care products contain harmful fragrance ingredients?
Cassidy Randall is an advocate for Women's Voices to the Earth, a group that aims to eliminate toxic chemicals in women's lives and in their communities.
This group believes women have economic and political power to change the dissemination of chemical products, and has petitioned numerous companies to remove harmful chemicals from the products they create and sell.
The group recently identified 33 hair straighteners containing harmful ingredients, which have been banned in other countries but are still allowed in the U.S.
Join Randall as she describes the work she and Women's Voices for the Earth is doing, as well as how you too can be an advocate in your own community.
