She is a certified asthma educator and certified COPD educator. Owning and directing a pulmonary rehabilitation clinic for years offered her a far-reaching knowledge of the physical, emotional, and mental impact of this group of diseases. 

Dawn attended Weber State University for her undergraduate degree, specializing in Respiratory Therapy, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude, and where she is currently continuing her education.

She is always anxiously engaged in research regarding various aspects of chronic lung disease, works on a regular basis with universities to increase educational opportunities for their respiratory students, builds programs to improve the efficacy of patient treatment, and is actively involved in professional respiratory organizations on both a state and national level. 

She is the founder of Chronic Lung Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to those suffering from chronic lung disease, is an author, and strong advocate for enhancing life through improved diagnosis, adherence to lifestyle modifications, and increased educational opportunities worldwide in order to prolong and improve quality of life.
