Heat illness is a spectrum of disorders due to environmental exposure to heat. It includes minor conditions such as heat cramps, heat syncope or fainting from the heat, and heat exhaustion as well as the more severe condition known as heat stroke.

Dr. Korin Hudson has been on faculty at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital since 2006. She has served as a team physician for Georgetown University Athletics since 2009 and is the assistant team physician for the Washington Wizards and a consulting physician for the Washington Capitals.

Dr. Hudson also serves on the Big East Conference Health and Safety Committee and the NCAA Division I Concussion Safety Protocol Committee. She is conducting ongoing research on concussion, heat-related illness in athletes, as well as emergency action planning and response.
