EP 1,293B - INDOOR EPIDEMIC

Indoor Epidemic is the international-book award winning physician’s guide to fixing the biological damage created by spending 93% of our time inside. Dr. John La Puma reveals how modern indoor life, with its flat light, recycled air, confinement and glowing screens is a hidden root cause of why we can’t sleep, focus, or feel rested. This book provides science-based “Outdoor Rx” protocols and micro-doses to improve your metabolism, mood, brain health and healthspan.

Featured Speaker:
John La Puma, MD

John La Puma, M.D., is a board-certified internist, professionally trained chef, and regenerative organic farmer. A two-time New York Times bestselling author, he pioneered Culinary Medicine, now taught in the majority of U.S. medical schools, and served as Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Chicago.
His new book, Indoor Epidemic (Wellness Imprints, March 17, 2026), makes the evidence-based case that the 93% of life Americans spend indoors is silently driving chronic disease, cognitive decline, and accelerated aging. He coined "Digital Obesity" to describe the biological overload of screen-centric indoor life and reframes burnout as a habitat problem with a biological fix. The solution is the Outdoor Rx: just 17 intentional minutes a day, dosed like medicine.

A frequent keynote speaker, Dr. La Puma has presented at TEDMED, TEDx, Harvard, Stanford, and major U.S. medical institutions nationwide. He is clinical faculty for the first skills-based CME course in nature as medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, and hosted 120 episodes of "Health Corner" on Lifetime Television. His work has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, NPR, PBS, Today, Good Morning America, and Fast Company.
