If you suffer from allergies or you catch a cold occasionally, you know how miserable it can be from the stuffy nose, dry and scratchy throat, and feeling like your head is like a balloon.
You probably have a go-to medication that includes pseudoephedrine (PSE) for instant relief; one that's readily accessible at your local drugstore.
However, some states are making medications that contain PSE harder to access due to the rise in abuse of the medication as a way to get high.
Many states are considering laws that would require a consumer to obtain a prescription to purchase PSE. What kind of impact could you expect from mandating PSE as prescription-only?
Garth K. Reynolds, RPh, joins Melanie Cole, MS, to discuss the changes in common OTC allergy and asthma medications that might be happening in your area and how this will affect your access to medications.
