Who doesn't want to age gracefully?
You may want to turn to the Mediterranean diet, which keeps you healthier longer.
A recent study in five European countries showed reduced inflammation in participants who ate a Mediterranean diet. Inflammatory conditions include obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, elevated levels of cholesterol and more. The reduced inflammation improves quality of life.
The basis for the Mediterranean diet comes from Crete. It contains whole or minimally processed foods. It's full of fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, dietary fiber, fish and olive oil. Locally available poultry and meat are included, as are dairy products. Moderate alcohol consumption is a cornerstone.
