Guest Bio:
Betsy Spier is a licensed marriage and family therapist with more than 20 years of experience in the mental health and substance abuse treatment fields. She is a graduate of Antioch University, Los Angeles. In addition to working as a clinician and administrator of substance abuse treatment centers, Betsy loves teaching at UCLA Extension.
In her private practice, Betsy specializes in working with people with mood disorders, addiction and co-occurring disorders, adolescents and their families. Betsy was involved in opening one of the first “dual diagnosis” programs in South Central LA in the mid 1990s. The program came out of the need for specialized treatment for women, with children, who were chemically dependent and had co-occurring mental illnesses. It still provides superior services for the community. - Length Mins: 27
