Migraines can be debilitating, to the point of many days of lost work.
Oftentimes, migraines can come on without notice... or so it seems.
Could the foods you're eating be a trigger to your migraine episodes?
Dr. Gary Kaplan, author of Total Recovery: A Revolutionary New Approach to Breaking the Cycle of Pain and Depression, has found that certain foods may present a higher migraine risk.
What are some of those foods?
Red wine, sharp cheeses, cured meats, anything with MSG, and chocolate may all contribute to the onset of migraines (although chocolate has also been associated with reducing nerve sensitivity.)
Paying attention to your diet is extremely important. Keeping a food diary can be helpful, especially if you're eating a high-fat diet. Interestingly, low-fat diets are often used to treat migraines.
Listen in as Dr. Kaplan and Dr. Susanne discuss more about foods that may trigger migraines, as well as effective ways to reduce the severity and occurrence of your migraine episodes.
