Is Graves Disease the Reason for Your Hyperthyroidism?

Graves disease is an autoimmune disease that leads to hyperthyroidism, which causes your thyroid to overproduce the hormone thyroxine.

Graves disease can affect anyone but is most prevalent in women under 40. Unfortunately, thyroid disorders can be hard to diagnose, many doctors may misdiagnose or completely overlook Graves disease.

What are some symptoms of Graves disease?

Symptoms can include anxiety, irritability, heat sensitivity, weight loss, changes in your menstrual cycles, irregular heartbeat, brittle hair, trouble sleeping, hand tremors, and frequent bowl movements.

Dr. Heather Herington knows this incredibly complex disease all too well. After suffering from the symptoms and being offered treatment options, she decided she needed to figure out the root cause behind her disease.

What are the treatment options?

Dr. Herington was told that her only options were to have her thyroid irradiated or completely cut out. As a practitioner, she knew there had to be a different way. Over the course of three months, she met with several doctors and finally decided to go the route of shaving part of her thyroid off while also taking herbs and other homeopathic medicines. Dr. Herington has been cured of Graves disease ever since.

However, typical treatments include heavy doses of anti-thyroid medications, radioactive iodine, and surgery.
