While he still actively fishes, dances and enjoys socializing with friends, Leeza Gibbons' father, Carlos, was recently diagnosed with heart disease.
This prompted her to give him Philips Lifeline’s medical alert service with 24/7 access, since he lives by himself.
It was a decision that got him the help he needed after a heart attack and showcased the significant impact technology can have on someone who lives alone and still enjoys being social.
Leeza joins Dr. Friedman to share her father's story and how services like Philips Lifeline can save lives.
She also discusses an AARP study, which shows isolated seniors have a 59 percent greater risk of mental and physical decline than individuals who are not lonely. Technology enables seniors to stay connected to family, travel and maintain their social circle by keeping aging adults close to resources that allow them to remain independent and safe.
