DIY Beauty Tips Found Right In Your Kitchen

You don't have to spend a ton on expensive skin care products to get great results.
You don't have to head to the beauty counter and spend a ton on expensive skin care products.

And, actually, you shouldn't, given some of the dangerous ingredients found in those products.

You can actually get many of the same benefits (or even better benefits) from making your own beauty and skin care solutions right in the comfort of your own home.

Many of the foods and other ingredients in your kitchen cupboards can be used to create natural skin care options.

As always, beauty expert David Pollock has some great ideas to get your started. He joins Andrea and Lisa to share some easy tips.

For instance, you can remove waterproof make-up with a cotton ball soaked in olive oil. The oil will dissolve the make-up effortlessly.

For a great face mask, mash some avocado and bentonite clay together. Apply the mixture to your face and leave for 10 minutes or so. The result will be a glow that you can't get from many of the beauty brands out there.

With summer here, you'll want your feet to be sandal-ready. Create your own "chemical peel" by filling a basin with water and the juice from one lemon. Soak both your hands and feet for supple, tightened skin.

You can also get soft hands and feet with a natural scrub. Mix almond oil, sesame oil or olive oil with one cup of large grain salt. This will exfoliate the rough layers of skin, and the oil helps seal in the moisture.

Want to get rid of stretch marks? Create your own formula by combining a sup of cocoa butter, cup of shea butter, dash of sweet almond oil or olive oil and the contents of a vitamin E capsule. Mix into a paste and apply a couple times a day.

These are just a few examples, but don't be afraid to experiment with different things for your skin.

Citrus fruits such as lemon juice and orange juice are great for exfoliation. They also help fight free radicals. You can mix these juices into a mask format or facial scrub.

You'll not only save money, but you can rest easy knowing they are natural and safe and have none of those dangerous preservatives. Make sure to put any concoctions in the fridge, though, to increase their longevity.
